Stop cursing your kids for leaving Legos on the floor and encourage them to start building robotics creations with them. You can learn about Wellesley FIRST Lego League opportunities on Wednesday, May 21, from 7:30-8:30pm at the Wellesley High School Library (3rd floor).
FIRST is an international robotics program designed to get kids interested in science, engineering and technology. Join a couple of muckety-mucks from the organization to find out how your kindergarten-8th graders can get involved with a team this coming Fall. No technical expertise is required on your kids’ part.
Junior FIRST Lego League Grades K-3 (ages 6 -9)
• Teams design and construct a model with moving parts using LEGO elements and present their research journey on a “Show-Me” poster
• Jr.FLL teams generally consist of 6 students and meet for 6-8 weeks. Each session should last for about one to two hours, once a week at a mutually agreeable time.
FIRST Lego League Grades 4 -8 (ages 9 – 16)
• Teams build LEGO based robots and develop research projects based on a real- world challenge that changes annually.
• Up to 10 students participate on a team and most teams spend about eight (8) weeks preparing their project. Many new teams start by meeting twice a week for one (1) to two (2) hours.
